Bright Spring Blooms at NOMA | A Garden Wedding in Full Color

There are some weddings that feel like spring from the moment you arrive, and this was one of them.

Set beneath the live oaks at the New Orleans Museum of Art, this celebration embraced the season with a palette of blush, peach, coral, butter yellow, lavender, soft blue, and fresh greens. The couple wanted the flowers to feel like they had naturally grown into the space—lush, colorful, and a little whimsical—while still feeling elegant enough for one of New Orleans' most iconic venues.

From the ceremony in the sculpture garden to the museum galleries and the grand reception, every floral moment was designed to feel relaxed, abundant, and full of movement.

One of our favorite details was how beautifully the stationery set the tone for the day. Soft blues, watercolor illustrations, and thoughtful custom details hinted at the colorful garden celebration guests were about to experience.

A Ceremony That Felt Like It Belonged in the Garden

Rather than a traditional floral arch, we framed the ceremony with overflowing floral meadows surrounding the platform. The arrangements blended into the landscape, allowing the towering oaks and Spanish moss to remain the backdrop while the flowers added layers of color and texture.

The result felt romantic without competing with the beauty of the sculpture garden.

Guests were surrounded by flowers from every angle. Meadow-style arrangements lined the seating, creating the feeling that everyone was sitting in the middle of a spring garden.

Color Everywhere

The floral palette mixed soft neutrals with brighter spring tones, creating a design that felt joyful without becoming overwhelming.

Cream and blush garden roses mixed with coral and raspberry blooms, lavender allium, blue delphinium, buttery yellow accents, snapdragons, and delicate seasonal flowers. Everything was designed with movement so the arrangements felt airy rather than tightly structured.

Carrying the Garden Through Cocktail Hour

The cocktail spaces continued the same floral story with relaxed arrangements placed throughout the bars and gathering spaces. We love repeating design elements throughout a wedding because it makes every transition feel intentional.

Dinner Inside the Museum

Guests enjoyed dinner inside the museum galleries, where colorful floral centerpieces softened the historic artwork and rich wall colors.

The lounge spaces balanced contemporary furniture with classic architecture, creating comfortable areas for guests while letting the museum itself remain part of the experience.

A Reception Designed to Feel Full of Flowers

One of the largest floral moments of the evening was the stage installation. A continuous garden of flowers stretched across the front of the band, creating a lush backdrop for the celebration while tying together the colors from earlier in the day.

Once the dance floor opened, the flowers became part of the celebration, framing the band throughout the evening.

Cake Flowers That Felt Like They Grew There

Rather than decorating the cake itself heavily, we surrounded it with flowers so it appeared to emerge from the center of the garden. Candlelight added warmth while keeping the focus on the blooms.

Finishing Touches

The museum's grand staircase became another floral moment with large urn arrangements welcoming guests into the reception.

This wedding perfectly captured what we love most about spring in New Orleans—lush gardens, incredible venues, vibrant color, and flowers that feel effortless.

Designing for the New Orleans Museum of Art is always special, and this celebration was a beautiful reminder that sometimes the best floral designs don't compete with the venue—they simply help it bloom.
